The hunting season is divided into early archery, early rifle, and late season. Apply for a tag during the open application period in January and February. There are various elk units to choose from. Each has its own unique characteristics and hunting opportunities. Some units–1, 9, 10, and 23–are managed under the Alternative Management program. This aims to maintain a 50 to 100 bull-to-cow ratio. Other units follow the Standard Management guidelines of a 25-35 to 100 bull-to-cow ratio.
Over the Counter Hunts
No draw needed. Spot and stalk on specific Arizona state land, BLM and 20,000 acres of private land without using your bonus points. Choose between meat cow and spike or mature bull and velvet mature bulls. * Elk numbers aren’t high on these hunts, but our experience will give you a leg up.
Long stalks across sandy rolling hills can be physically demanding. We accommodate long and non-long-range shooters.
